I plan to post a call out for resources at least every 3 months. To date, I’ve had very few submissions, which is okay, I’m willing to be here for awhile. This will be a go-to resource (even if just for me!).
While in our certificate program (first year), we had a project where we were to create resource binders. I wish that I had the idea of this blog then, but alas, I have three binders full of paper, to which I’ve only looked at once or twice since they were created. I’ve been religiously adding to them, but I’ve not had the time to organize, or even review what I’ve collected over the last two years. I would like to eventually have my entire resource binder’s content within this blog, but I’ll to be honest, that transfer will take awhile (aka: free time).
What normally happens when you are looking for a fresh idea for a program or activity? Perhaps you end up on Pinterest… And if you’re anything like me, four hours later, you realize you can’t even remember what you were looking for in the first place, but you have 73 tabs open!
I am constantly getting lost in the mass amounts of information out there. Not only on the internet, but in books, articles, emails, etc. Like most, I want to be current, I want to have access to new and exciting ideas and inspiration. But I don’t want to waste my time in doing so and so very often, I end up with several great activity ideas, but no time to create a purposeful program with them.
What do I want to do about it? I want to create a “Master List”… This idea is actually quite daunting, but, with the assistance of my fellow recreation professionals, I feel as though it is do-able. I suspect it will take some time to create this list, but it is a goal!
What am I asking of you?
I am now looking for links to what you would consider MUST have resources. Is there a website that you rely on, or perhaps a textbook that you keep going back to after years of practice, maybe even an association’s website, another discipline that supports you in unique ways, places where you find inspiration for programs, CEU & education opportunities, etc, etc…
