Practicing what we Preach…

If you know me in person, you know that I often don’t practice what I preach.  I seem to always have great advice for others, but I tend to overlook taking my own advice on the best of days.

A few years back I worked as an administrative assistant in Addictions & Mental Health and one of the many important lessons that I learned from one of the therapists I worked under was the importance of congruency between your attitudes and practices in your work life and those in your personal life.

You can not truly be genuine if you are a hypocrite (okay, I’m being harsh here, but really).  I can not really expect someone to value recreation and leisure if I don’t value it myself.  And it isn’t that I don’t value either, (now here’s where I start making excuses), however, I just can’t seem to wrap my head around a positive leisure attitude for myself.  Taking time for myself seems to rack up a whole bunch of guilt.

Regardless of my skeletons and excuses, I wanted to share that I actually took the opportunity to enjoy some leisure time recently, and I REALLY enjoyed it!

I would love to hear from you what you enjoy doing in your leisure time.  And I’d love to hear from you even more if you’re like me, and tend to avoid practicing what you preach and want a SHOUT OUT for being so awesome and finally taking that much needed time (and maybe wants some assistance with NOT feeling guilty about it)! Post below, be sure to include photos!!
